Stories About Dogs and Ice Cream (2020) Day 3. It's been three days since I've seen another living human being. Rapture? Alien invasion? Twilight Zone episode? I have no idea. Today was the first day I left the apartment. ***** Inspired by Stephen King, Raymond Chandler, Shirley Jackson, Ernest Hemingway, the Twilight Zone and Monty Python, P. Canole’s third short story collection, Stories About Dogs and Ice Cream , takes a left turn through everyday life with witty dialogue and dry humor. Stories included in this collection: Alone, Paddling, The Lady in the Queue and The Old Man and the Burrito.

Linfield 1890

Linfield 1890 (2019) The beast pulled itself up to its full height and stepped into the light of the torch.    It stood over six feet tall, with long limbs. It had otter like fur from the shoulders down, with little to no fur on its head. Large wide eyes reflected the light of the torch. They were brown with flecks of gold. They sat far apart on its oversized oblong head. There were two flat open slits in the space in the middle of its face where its nose would be. Tentacle like structures covered the sides of its cheeks. It sniffed the air around Private Milton. Private Milton put down the torch and held up his hands, trying to show that he meant no harm. Given that he had nowhere else to go, he took a wide stance and held his ground. He spoke slowly and with purpose. "Hello. I'm no threat to you. I came here quite by mistake." '"Grrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhmmmmmm." Linfield has always been a strange place. But when did it all start?

"You're showing up as .1% alien DNA.   Not dissimilar to the octopus actually." "What?" "Yup.   Says is right here.   An ancient ancestor of yours.   Non-human DNA. Maybe about 12 to 15 thousand years ago.   It's such a small amount.   But it's definitely there." "What?!   What does that even mean?" "We don't know.   But I can tell you you're not alone.   We do see this from time to time.   Unfortunately, I am required to notify the government in situations like this." "OK, I understand.   Thank you." *click* In his second collection of stories, author P. Canole explores an everyday world of alien visitors, woul

29 Very Short Stories

29 Very Short Stories (2017) "You watching this?" "Not really." "You want to watch something else?" "Nah.  I've had enough TV for one night." "What should we do?" "You want to speak to the dead?" "What?  Really?" "Sure." "You've done this before?" "Couple times.  Little something I picked up along the way." "So... it's like a séance?" "Kinda.  But not exactly."  Sara could see she had his interest.  She played out a little more line. "There's not a Ouija board involved, is there?" Steve asked dismissively. "No, that's kid stuff." "Are you saying you're a medium?" "No, not at all.  It's a talent anyone can develop.  But like most things in life, you have to work at it." "You're just full of hidden talents, aren't you?
